Jacquemus

Spring 2020 Men's Digital Ad Campaign

By Lily Kane

Everybody wants to be somebody, and Jacquemus’ newest campaign shows us that we can be. Singer, songwriter, and record producer Steve Lacy takes us along on a shot-by-shot day in his life for the house’s latest digital campaign. Lensed by Pierre-Ange Carlotti, this simple, yet entertaining campaign personifies the relaxed vibe of the French fashion brand.

With the help of designer and creative director Simon Porte Jacquemus, the new men’s collection is shown off in an easy, everyday style, while still appealing to the audience as a luxury. Lacy is a successful, well-known musician, who, though made more approachable with this casual format, is most certainly a ‘somebody.’

This men’s campaign works well with its adjacent, modeled by Bella Hadid for the women’s collection. Both show off the lives of celebrities, exemplifying that we can be just like them. But, with this praise also comes flaws, as it would have been extremely beneficial to see a video alongside the shots of Lacy. A film would be able to give the viewer an even more enhanced look at the musician’s life and style, bringing up the brand while doing so.

This being said, Jacquemus does a great job of bringing the celebrated life of fame to us, enhancing their designs while proving they are made for everybody. The rapper and the fashion label work well together, and it’s exciting to think what the future may hold for both parties, still at the beginnings of their long careers.
