The Collection Translates the Style and Athleticism of the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup in Barcelona
Louis Vuitton has unveiled a special capsule collection to commemorate the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup Barcelona sailing race.
The America’s Cup, established in 1851, is the world’s oldest international sporting trophy. Louis Vuitton has been associated with the event since 1983 and now celebrates its role as the title partner of the prestigious race, including organizing the qualifying stages, known as the Louis Vuitton Cup.
The 2024 Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup, along with the Louis Vuitton Cup, will be held in Barcelona from August 29 to October 27. The event will feature defending champion Emirates Team New Zealand competing against the winner of the Louis Vuitton Cup, which will see participation from the USA, Switzerland, Italy, France, and the UK. Races will take place around Port Vell and the beach leading to Port Olim.
In honor of this occasion, Louis Vuitton has introduced dedicated men’s and women’s ready-to-wear collections, along with bags and accessories that capture the excitement and energy of the premier sailing regatta. The collections feature house emblems, bold colors, and nautical themes across three lines: “Riding the Waves” for technical pieces, “A Day on the Deck” for sporty day wear, and “Elegant Summer Evening” wear. A recurring motif in the collection is the vibrant and dynamic America’s Cup logo, featuring the historical graphic ‘V’ framed by color blocks of red, white, and navy, a signature code developed by Gaston-Louis Vuitton.
The Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup Barcelona capsule collections will be available in stores and online starting July 18, 2024.
Extending beyond the collection, Louis Vuitton will also host a cruise event led by Nicolas Ghesquière, presenting the latest women’s collections along with various cultural activities in Barcelona. The brand has been a sponsor of the America’s Cup since 1983 and will serve as the title partner for the event this year. The races are scheduled to take place around Port Vell and Port Olímpic in Barcelona between August 29 and October 27.
Five challengers from the Louis Vuitton Cup regattas will compete to face Emirates Team New Zealand for the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup title. Louis Vuitton has expanded its sports partnerships, collaborating with high-profile athletes like Carlo Alcaraz, Léon Marchand, and Enzo Lefort. The brand has a historical connection with Barcelona, dating back to its participation in the 1929 Barcelona International Exhibition and the opening of its first Spanish store in 1987.
