Timed to NYFW, the Ephemeral Boutique Offers Vintage Pieces from the Finnish Brand’s 70-Year History
Marimekko has opened a special pop-up boutique on SoHo that offers a curated selection of piece’s from the iconic Finnish brand’s 70-year history. The opening is timed to coincide with New York Fashion Week.
The brand’s creative director Rebekka Bay partnered with stylist, illustrator, and vintage expert Jenny Walton to curate the selection of clothing that illuminate the Wooster Street location with bright colors and iconic prints. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the brand’s most recognizable Unniko flower print, which has been a source of celebrations and activations, but the curation also dives into deeper cuts from Marimekko’s colorful history.
In its home country of Finland, Marimekko has a pre-owned and vintage resale digital program that allows shoppers to buy and sell their pre-loved Marimekko pieces – but it has yet to be expanded internationally. This SoHo pop-up marks the first time the brand has created a physical location for pre-owned retail.
