A Unique Blend Of Outdoor Durability And Playful Design Debuts This December
Original Duckhead, known for its signature duck head-handle umbrellas, and Japan-based outdoor brand Nanga have announced their first collaboration: a limited-edition umbrella combining functional design, outdoor innovation, and distinctive style.
“We’ve always been inspired by the natural world and the importance of being prepared for any kind of weather,” said Morgan Cros, CEO and Founder of Original Duckhead. “By collaborating with Nanga, we’ve been able to fuse our mutual love for the outdoors, durability, and thoughtful design into a truly unique product. This umbrella isn’t just a functional item; it’s a design statement, built to withstand the elements while bringing a touch of fun and character to any rainy day.”
The umbrella features Original Duckhead’s iconic duck head motif on its handle, paired with Nanga’s recognizable duck down imagery. The umbrella’s storage case is styled after Nanga’s signature sleeping bags, with a playful visual of a duck “sleeping” inside the bag, emphasizing comfort and protection.
“In November 2023, our team visited the MoMA store in SoHo, NY, where we discovered the iconic Original Duckhead umbrellas. We were instantly taken with their charm, and after buying several to bring back to Japan, we recognized the perfect synergy between our brands. This collaboration was a natural fit, and we’re thrilled to bring it to life,” said Tomoyuki Yokota, Founder and President of Nanga.
The collaborative umbrella is available from both brand’s websites on December 10th.
