The Nordstrom Fashion Director Joins as the Resale Platform Expands With a New U.S.-Based Team

Rickie De Sole, the vice president and fashion director at Nordstrom, has been appointed to the board of directors of Vestiaire Collective, a leading global platform for pre-owned, curated fashion. This addition expands the board to eight members.

Vestiaire Collective is currently emphasizing its expansion in the U.S. market, which constitutes 20 percent of its overall business. The U.S. region is experiencing the fastest growth, prompting the inclusion of a U.S.-based board member knowledgeable about the industry.

De Sole assumed her role at Nordstrom in January 2022 as the women’s fashion and editorial director before being promoted earlier this year. Her previous roles include executive fashion director at vogue.com, fashion director at W Magazine, and accessories director at Vogue. She also held a position in public relations at Prada and has served on the boards of Rent the Runway and Thom Browne.

Fanny Moizant, cofounder and president of Vestiaire Collective, expressed enthusiasm about De Sole’s appointment. “Rickie brings years of experience working at some of the most recognizable names in fashion. With her deep industry insights, Rickie will play an integral role on the board of Vestiaire Collective during a pivotal point in the company’s growth and will help accelerate our business not only in North America, but also globally. I am thrilled to have her join our board and our mission to reshape the fashion industry for a more sustainable future,” said Moizant.

De Sole also shared her perspective on joining the board. “I am pleased to join the Vestiaire Collective board at a time when they are gaining strong momentum in the U.S. Vestiaire Collection has had resounding success in Europe and Asia with its curated offerings from around the world, trustworthy authentication service, and commitment to sustainability. I see tremendous opportunity for me to support Vestaire Collective’s leadership team in driving brand awareness and accelerating its growth in the U.S.”

To further its U.S. strategy, Vestiaire’s global chief executive officer, Maximilian Bittner, moved to New York from Paris and established a new U.S.-based team. This team includes Samina Virk, CEO of North America. The company also introduced a zero percent commission fee for U.S. sellers, initiated a VIP Consignment Program in New York, and organized an exclusive celebrity closet event with Academy Award winner and producer Jessica Chastain.
