Schiaparelli’s Daniel Roseberry Inspires Next Generation of Designers at SCAD

Daniel Roseberry’s transformative visit to SCAD blends mentorship, creativity, and inspiration for the next generation of fashion visionaries

In early November, Schiaparelli Artistic Director Daniel Roseberry made a memorable visit to the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), immersing himself in the university’s renowned School of Fashion. This two-day event marked the first time Roseberry has engaged with a university fashion program in such depth, offering students an unparalleled opportunity to learn from one of the industry’s most influential figures.

The visit came on the heels of Roseberry’s recent honor as CFDA International Designer of the Year. His time at SCAD showcased his commitment to nurturing young talent, as he observed classes, led sketching workshops, engaged in classroom discussions, and provided one-on-one portfolio reviews for senior fashion design students. Roseberry’s presence resonated deeply with SCAD’s fashion community, culminating in a Masterclass conversation with School of Fashion Dean Dirk Standen, where he reflected on his creative journey and shared invaluable insights into his design philosophy.

“Daniel not only shared his personal journey and insights from his role at Schiaparelli but also stressed the value of humility, patience, and giving people something to believe in and remember,” noted Standen. The Masterclass drew over 700 attendees, with many traveling from SCAD’s Atlanta campus to witness the event.

SCAD’s commitment to fostering connections between students and leading industry figures was evident throughout Roseberry’s visit. Fashion design student Kieva Brady described the experience as life-changing: “Daniel’s passion as an artist is inspiring. He taught me to think about how my collections could change someone else’s story, memories, or experiences. It was an experience I’ll never forget.”

Roseberry’s visit reinforced SCAD’s reputation for bringing global fashion excellence to its students. As Standen remarked, “At SCAD, we may not be based in a fashion capital like Paris or Milan, but we bring the best of Paris and Milan to SCAD.” For the students and faculty, the event will stand as a defining moment in their creative journeys.

Through his thoughtful mentorship and personal engagement, Roseberry not only highlighted the legacy of Schiaparelli but also inspired the next wave of designers to bring their own bold visions to life.
