Review of Versace “Icons” Fall 2024 Ad Campaign by Creative Director Donatella Versace and Photographers Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott with models Anne Hathaway and Cillian Murphy
Versace continues to explore the character of its legendary archive through the lens of contemporary cultural leaders with its latest Icon campaign. The brand once again teams with photographer duo Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott while drawing on the magnetic persona and presence of brand ambassadors Anne Hathaway and Cilian Murphy.
Continuing the straightforward formula of its previous Icon campaigns, the imagery takes shape as direct studio portraits with a bold and classic feel. The collection revisits some iconic staples from the Versace vernacular, like sharp tailoring, metal mesh, leather, and intricate jacquards, all of which cut a striking silhouette in conversation with the dynamism and poise of their wearers.
Taken alone, Versace’s Icon campaigns don’t feel particularly memorable. But as a series released with a strategic rhythm, the campaigns become a smart way to build out recognition for a new curation of the house’s core offerings, drawing on the power of brand ambassadors and visual consistency to create a long-form and omnipresent embodiment of the iconic Versace ethos.
