Lily-Rose Depp stars in an easy-breezy new campaign from Chanel. The young actor is captured by photographer Karin Sadli as she lounges poolside in the Cruise 2021 campaign.
Depp seems like a great embodiment of the youthful and free feminine energy that Virginie Viard conjures with her designs for the collection and helps to introduce the firm to a more youthful market. Sadli picks up on this through her camera lens, and the images have an organic sense of openness and contented calm.
Virginie Viard was looking for someone who could embody a freshness, a sort of candour, a liberated and confident femininity, and who has a playful spirit. I’ve known Lily-Rose since she was young in Los Angeles, through her mother, before she started her career as an actress. I have a great deal of affection for her, and we shot this campaign in an atmosphere of familiarity and trust.

Sadli captures Depp in both color and black and white as she relaxes by the pool or in a garden. Viard’s designs fuse classic Chanel elegance with a youthful casualness, and as the elements of design, talent, and photography combine, each image feels like a blossoming of summer.
