Review of Miu Miu Fall 2021 Ad Campaign by Mathias Augustyniak & Michael Amzalag of Agency M/M Paris with Photographer Steven Meisel with actress Emma Corrin
Actor Emma Corrin brings color and personality to a new campaign for Miu Miu. The Fall 2021 campaign features creative direction from Mathias Augustyniak and Michael Amzalag of Agency M/M Paris with photography by Steven Meisel.
Most well-known for embodying Princess Di on Netflix’s The Crown, Corrin brings her charm, personality, and unique beauty to the campaign, her second for Miu Miu. In the film, she inhabits the role of storyteller, recounting brief vignettes about girlhood, growing up, falling in love, being alone, and finding oneself. Her tone is quick and controlled but subtly infused with warmth and wit.
Meisel’s series of portraits draw plenty of personality out of the star. With a direct stance before different bright pastel backgrounds, she inhabits various mood archetypes: joyful, seductive, reflective, curious, confident. The collection’s experimental subversion of wintry classics and special emphasis on unique knitwear helps to augment the mood of cute and playful quirkiness.
With its narratives that are open-ended but grounded in a recognizable sense of confidence and a design sense that revels in in-betweenness, the campaign encourages bravery and spontaneity to pursue our own stories in a world that is always changing.
