Review of Miu Miu Fall ‘A Brave Heart’ 2021 Ad Campaign Series by Creative Directors of M/M Paris Mathias Augustyniak and Michael Amzalag with Videographer Benn Northover with actor Emma Corrin
Actor Emma Corrin brings warmth and heart to a new film series by Miu Miu. The Fall 2021 campaign features creative direction from Mathias Augustyniak and Michael Amzalag of Agency M/M Paris, with videography by Benn Northover.
Most well-known for embodying Princess Di on Netflix’s The Crown, Corrin brings her charm, personality, and unique beauty to the campaign, her second for Miu Miu. Across the films, she inhabits the role of storyteller, recounting brief vignettes about girlhood, growing up, falling in love, being alone, and finding oneself. Her tone is quick and controlled but infused with warmth and wit.
The first episode features concise, more abstract third-person narratives that are quickly stitched together to create a sort of narrative collage, a dreamy combination of textures that recalls childhood memory. From there Corrin moves to specific first-person tales of her own childhood, reflects on the curious encyclopedic phenomenon of Mountweazels, and ends with a story that affirms friendship as the basis for romance.
The candid cinematography, bright pastel backgrounds, and eclectic styling all serve to deepen the sense of personality and honest joy that Corrin exudes. This is a rare treat of a celebrity campaign that truly gives us a glimpse of who its star is, and the approach feels generous and delightful. With a talented, quirky storyteller and a joyful celebration of memory, the campaign is hard to forget.
