Review of Chanel “Pre-Collection” Spring 2022 Ad Campaign by Film Director Caroline De Maigret and Photographer Leïla Smara with talent Izïa Higelin

The French singer, songwriter and composer Izïa Higelin, known for her powerful melodies and stage performances, is the face of the Chanel Spring-Summer 2022 pre-collection campaign. Before Leïla Smara’s camera, the young woman – who is also an actress – combines the soul of rock music with the spirit of Chanel. Between the guitars, the pianos, the amplifiers and the leather sofas, the campaign is imbued with the musical energy of the recording studios. An atmosphere reigned by freedom of movement and spirit, generosity and joy.

The upbeat shots are carried by Izïa Higelin’s smile. A jacket and shorts ensemble in black leather embellished with metal eyelets contrasts with a red silk blouse whose flounces move harmoniously. A coat and dress in black twill is printed with silver camellias while a casual and colourful look pairs wide-cut jeans in printed denim with a lilac quilted leather bag. A more sensual side also emerges in this campaign. Skin is very present, especially with the tweed outfits that play on lengths: a multicoloured cotton tweed coat with matching mini shorts and a mini-skirt suit in yellow, black and grey fantasy tweed worn over a cropped black top that reveals the waist. A black and white shot shows a more romantic silhouette: a cashmere sweater with a floral pattern and double Cs worn above a black silk skirt with tiered flounces. Black leather boots dotted with charms and accessories, including chokers and cuff bracelets worn in pairs, add a rock edge to certain silhouettes.
