Review of Louis Vuitton x Yayoi Kusama Collection Part 2 2023 Ad Campaign with talent Yayoi Kusama and Rianne Van Rompaey
Louis Vuitton teases its second collaborative collection with the iconic contemporary artist Yayoi Kusama with a surreal new campaign.
The new collection arrives ten years after the first partnership between Kusama and Louis Vuitton, and while it’s not quite clear yet what the full release will have in store, the campaign makes it pretty clear it will be all about the artist’s signature polka dots. The teaser film features Kusama herself alongside top model and frequent muse of the house Rianne Van Rompaey, who, in a surreal exchange, pass a monogrammed Kusama pumpkin back and forth or stand on each other’s heads.
The announcement was celebrated with a takeover in Tokyo, which occupied several spaces for immersive art installations as well as plenty of digital billboards.
Though minimal, Kusama’s cultural importance is such that her presence here alone is enough to get us hyped for the release. The full collection is set to be unveiled and in stores on January 1st, 2023.
