Review of Juun.J Fall 2023 Men’s Fashion Show

Youth in Revolt

By Obi Anyanwu

Juun J returned to Paris Fashion Week this season with more denim treatments, picking up from where the previous season left off.

The show opened with leather ensembles with zipper details and embellishments before delving into their latest denim story that bridged grungy looks with the rave appropriate leather coats, pants and skirts.

Diving into the denim story, the first looks sported charcoal grey hoodies that had an acid wash finish, which made way for a light denim dress paired with a drop shoulder blazer and a men’s version that appeared blended as a cut-and-sew piece. The latter was paired with biker ready jeans with enough knee details to remind every attendee of the moto jeans trend of the mid 2010s.

Another style had frayed and aged rips and tears that yellowed, and similar details appeared on denim styles paired with an oversized heavyweight t-shirt, short sleeve hoodie, and fur jacket.

The collection was edgy, grungy and youthful but on the side of rebelliousness and counter culture, and maintained a chic sophistication through modern tailoring and outerwear with oversized shoulders.
