Review of Louis Vuitton ‘Taurillon Monogram and Monogram Macassar’ Spring 2023 Ad Campaign by Art Director Lucie Matussiere and Photographer Javier Castán with models Abas Abdirazaq, Jeremiah Berko Fourdjour, and Leon Dame
Louis Vuitton welcomes summer iterations of its Taurillon Monogram and Monogram Macassar collections with a fresh and floral campaign. The Summer 2023 campaign features art direction by Lucie Matussiere and photography by Javier Castán.
Echoing the house’s runway presentation, the Taurillon Monogram collection in embossed leather showcases key shapes in fresh, summery shades of electric Racing Blue and sophisticated urbane Mineral Gray. Color also comes to the fore in must-have Monogram Macassar pieces. Trimmed with vibrant Radiant Sun yellow leather that amps up contrast, a playful energy is brought to signature shapes that embody the house’s vision of bringing elegance to practical, go-anywhere pieces.
The campaign imagery captures this spirit by finding through a soft analog lens its protagonists in fresh garden scenes: stopping to smell the flowers in a greenhouse or relaxing on the grass. This seems to be the moment just after they have reached their destination, and can relax, explore, and have fun.
Drawing sensitively on the beauty of a well-chosen location, the campaign puts a lush summertime spin on Louis Vuitton’ perennial spirit of adventure.
