Shoe designer Paul Andrew made his much-anticipated return to New York Fashion Week with a take over of Rockefeller Center’s rink level and Jupiter restaurant. The Season 4 collection was shown against a backdrop of the Prometheus Fountain and a performance by professional roller skate dancers.
Paul Andrew relaunched his namesake footwear brand last year after leaving his role as Ferragamo’s Creative Director. In 2016 Andrew joined the company as its footwear director and was appointed creative director of the womenswear the following year. Andrew paused his eponymous label upon taking the creative director role, from which he stepped down in 2021.
The Season 4 collection, in a palette of black, red, tan, white, and silver, is a departure from the post-Covid high-heeled party shoe and embraces the current desire for quiet luxury. The new styles are adorned with silver metal zippers atop slim spike heels or curvaceous plexiglass heels inspired by the work of Jochen Holz, which will become a new signature for the brand.
Guests included Whitney Port, Tina Leung, Alina Cho, Prabal Gurung, Declan Chan, Francesco Clark, Sophie Lopez, Sarah Slutsky Toole, Amar Akway, Eric Rutherford, Mateo Harris, Presley Oldham, Italo Zucchelli, and Veronika Kunz (Veronika is the face of the brand’s new ad campaign, featured on wild postings throughout New York City and Mexico City).
The event featured beautiful Italian bites from Jupiter restaurant and Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon from Chateau Montelena, the exclusive wine sponsor of the evening. The roller skate dancers’ performance was choreographed by Eric Christison, the original soundtrack was created by Frédéric Sanchez, and their hair and makeup was done by Holli Smith and Fara Homidi.
