THE THEME
Altuzarra’s Fall 2024 collection, an intimate affair reminiscent of salon-style runway shows, celebrates the brand’s 15th anniversary with a nod to the dramatic world of theater. Drawing inspiration from Henrik Ibsen’s pivotal play, “A Doll’s House,” the collection reflects the journey of self-discovery and the layered complexity of human identity. Just as Ibsen’s protagonist, Nora, finds the courage to step beyond societal expectations and define her own identity, Altuzarra’s pieces invite the wearer to embrace a personal narrative of empowerment and self-expression.
The fabrics themselves tell a story of womanhood that is both intimate and bold, echoing Ibsen’s themes of personal awakening and the dichotomy between one’s inner life and outward appearance. The use of Pierrot-inspired ruffles and chunky knits with sumptuous sleeves and necklines crafts a visual vocabulary that speaks to the transformative power of attire. These design choices mirror Nora’s metamorphosis, serving as armor that conceals as much as it reveals, allowing the wearer to navigate between the realms of public scrutiny and private authenticity.
The Nureyev-esque leg warmers paired with tapered knit pants, alongside the fluidity of the bias-cut dresses, evoke a sense of freedom and movement akin to Nora’s final act of liberation. They are modern tributes to the elegance of ballet and equestrian grace, arts that, much like Ibsen’s play, celebrate the strength and poise of the individual amidst the performance of life.
In this collection, Altuzarra honors the essence of “A Doll’s House”—the idea that true identity and fulfillment come from within, and that self-expression is the ultimate form of personal freedom. The garments stand as a testament to the brand’s core values of sophistication and individuality, encouraging a dialogue about the role of modern fashion in shaping and reflecting our deepest selves.

Look # 43
In a collection that weaves a continuous thread of thematic elegance, each piece flowing seamlessly into the next, it becomes a formidable task to isolate a single standout look. Yet, amidst this cohesive breath of design, it was Irina Shayk’s finale appearance that encapsulated the collection’s essence with striking clarity.
