Versace Enhances Global Team With New Global Communication Director From Kenzo
Versace is expanding its international team with the appointment of Mathieu Baboulène, formerly of Kenzo, as its Milan-based Global Communication Director. Baboulène, who joined Versace on Tuesday, will answer directly to Caroline Deroche Pasquier. Pasquier herself recently joined the Italian fashion house as Vice President of Global Communications after working with Bottega Veneta.
Versace has made significant strides in building a robust team over the past year, bringing in experienced executives from a variety of fields including communications, marketing, visual merchandising, digital innovation, omnichannel, and IT. These strategic additions all form part of Versace’s plan to elevate its brand and assert its status as a global fashion leader.
Baboulène brings considerable experience to his new role at Versace. Prior to this appointment, he spent four years at French fashion brand Kenzo as the Global Senior PR and Communication Director. During his time at Kenzo, he worked under Nigo, the Creative Director at the Paris-based fashion house. But his collaboration with noted industry figures predates Nigo, having also worked with Nigo’s predecessor, Felipe Oliveria Baptista.
The French executive commenced his career at Michèle Montagne’s press office in Paris. Here, he was responsible for orchestrating PR and communications initiatives for trusted fashion brands such as Ann Demeulemeester, Haider Ackermann, Rick Owens and Undercover. Furthermore, Baboulène held leadership roles in communication and PR at Maison Margiela, Givenchy under Riccardo Tisci, and Coach.
Returning to work with Deroche Pasquier at Versace, the pair is set to recreate the dynamic partnership they fostered during their time at Givenchy and Coach. Baboulène’s replacement at Kenzo remains unannounced.
