A Cinematic Tribute to an Ideal Paris
A tribute to bygone visions of Paris, Stephane Rolland’s latest couture show at the Salle Pleyel theater unfolded like a black-and-white film, showcasing models in exquisite, elegant dresses adorned with stones and feathers. Rolland utilized wool crepe, velvet, gazar, tulle, and satin in the collection.
This season, Rolland delved into tailoring, presenting big-shouldered jackets with a hint of masculinity that could also double as a cinched dress. This contrasted with the chiffon pieces that exuded transparency and fluidity, while deep-plunging necklines, bare backs, and diamond belts exuded Rolland’s distinct perspective on formal sensuality.
Highlight pieces included a long dress in nude tulle and black chiffon with a black gazar neckline and an embroidered belt. The show also featured a bubble jacket made of black-and-white jersey and gazar paired with a long black jersey skirt. The finale showcased a voluminous white hooded bride’s dress adorned with porcelain embroidery and white organza petals.
