John Galliano Reportedly to Exit Maison Margiela

Rumors Purport Fendi as the Next Destination for the Illustrious Designer

Renowned designer John Galliano is reportedly making plans to leave Maison Margiela this fall, marking the end of his illustrious 10-year tenure at the Paris-based fashion house. Despite repeated requests from Renzo Rosso, owner of the brand’s parent company OTB, to renew his contract, Galliano has chosen to move on.

A spokesperson for OTB said Monday: “As you know – and it is normal in our industry – there are always a lot of rumors when creative talents are concerned. We never comment on them. All we can say is that relations between John Galliano, Maison Margiela and our group chairman Renzo Rosso, are very good.”

Speculation surrounding Galliano’s departure began circulating after he deleted all his posts on Instagram a few months ago. His decision to leave Maison Margiela comes not long after his stunning Spring 2024 couture collection was presented in January, when it was met with rave reviews and sparked viral conversations across social media.

While there have been rumors about Galliano’s next career move, the names leading the conversation include Fendi, Chanel, and a return to Dior. Insiders suggest that Fendi may be the next destination for the talented designer, with reports of a potential change in creative direction at the Rome-based house.

Galliano joined Maison Margiela in October 2014, years after a controversial incident that led to his dismissal from another fashion house. Despite past controversies, Galliano’s creative talent and unique vision have solidified his reputation as one of the industry’s most influential designers.

The fashion world eagerly awaits confirmation on John Galliano’s next chapter, as he prepares to bid farewell to Maison Margiela and embark on a new creative journey.
