Nike Hires Former Salesforce Executive As CIO In Tech Division Shakeup

Former Salesforce Executive Hired by Nike to Lead Technology Modernization Efforts

Nike Inc. has appointed Cheryan Jacob, a former Salesforce Inc. executive, as the new chief information officer to spearhead the modernization of technology infrastructure. Jacob, with prior experiences at Microsoft Corp. and Flexport Inc., will play a crucial role in simplifying, standardizing, and modernizing platforms within the company, as stated in an internal memo reviewed by Bloomberg.

Chief Technology Officer Muge Erdirik Dogan highlighted the significance of the CIO role in achieving Nike’s priority of simplification and modernization. Nike’s global technology division has been essential in supporting the retailer’s focus on direct-to-consumer channels like websites and apps to enhance product sales.

Under the leadership of CEO John Donahoe, Nike’s technology department has undergone significant changes, including the recent resignation of its top tech executive Ratnakar Lavu. In the company’s effort to strengthen its foundational infrastructure, new job listings for senior engineering positions have emerged.

A spokesperson for Nike declined to provide a comment on Jacob’s appointment, while Jacob did not respond to a request for comment.
