Chavez to mentor students and shape curriculum at SCAD’s business and fashion schools
Robert Chavez, executive chairman of Hermès Americas, has been appointed as the executive in residence at The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) for the 2024-25 academic year. In this role, Chavez will provide mentorship and engage with students across SCAD’s campuses in Atlanta, Savannah, and Lacoste, France. He will also review portfolios and collaborate with academic leaders to enhance curricula for the SCAD De Sole School of Business Innovation and the SCAD School of Fashion.
SCAD’s chief academic officer, Jason Fox, expressed excitement about the appointment, stating,
Bob Chavez is a visionary leader in the international luxury space and a longtime champion of SCAD. We are honored to have Bob serve as executive in residence and engage deeply with talented SCAD students across an array of disciplines.”
Chavez began his new role in April, after stepping down as president of Hermès Americas. During his tenure, he oversaw significant growth, with 48 Hermès boutiques across the U.S. and Latin America.
Reflecting on the new position, Chavez shared, “Working with the faculty and exceptionally talented students at SCAD is a true honor, and I thank president Paul Wallace for this wonderful opportunity of engagement.” In 2019, Chavez was awarded an honorary degree from SCAD.
