Fendi Opens First Boutique in Madrid

Fendi has officially opened its first boutique on Calle Ortega y Gasset in Madrid’s Salamanca luxury district. The 240-square-meter space presents both Women’s and Men’s collections in a newly redesigned open floor plan, incorporating the brand’s heritage along with Spanish-inspired elements and curated furniture.

In line with Fendi’s established connection to art and design, the boutique features furniture selected from emerging Spanish designers. Pieces were chosen from the Alzueta Gallery, a local contemporary art venue representing artists from Spain and abroad. The artworks reflect a style that connects with the brand’s identity through a focus on subtle forms and color.

The exterior of the store is marked by a heritage façade with transparent windows, giving passersby a glimpse into the store’s interior design. Inside, guests enter into a double-height space that showcases a mix of materials and textures. The floor features a reinterpretation of the classic Spanish rhombus pattern, alternating between white and pink travertine with green St. Denis marble accents.

The front of the boutique is dedicated to Women’s accessories, including bags and shoes, displayed against ribbed travertine marble walls. The walls are adorned with diagonal Fendi logos sketched by Karl Lagerfeld and niches backed by three-dimensional plaster designs in a geometric Pequin pattern from the brand’s archives. Contemporary pieces, such as sculptures by Stan Van Steendam and a round table by Roberto Sironi made from Rima yellow marble, complement the space.

Signature Fendi fur tablets, featuring unique motifs, are placed throughout the store, recalling both the brand’s Roman roots and its artisanal expertise. A round walnut staircase leads to the mezzanine level, where Women’s Ready-To-Wear, Fur, and a VIC (Very Important Client) room are located.

On this level, stainless-steel walls are softened by art pieces from the Temperature Collection by Canary Islands artist Aythamy Armas. His works, created with pastel, spray paint, and ink, were chosen to honor both Spain and local artists. The VIC room itself is designed as a modern living room with a black and white Patagonia marble floor and customized FF-patterned walls. The try-on area features artwork from Alzueta Gallery, including “The Corner” by Maru Quinoñero, which uses pencil on paper techniques.

The entire boutique was conceptualized and designed by the Fendi Architecture Department.
