The CIFF and CFDA Will Spotlight Four Designers with a Focus on Sustainability
The Copenhagen Fashion Fair, in collaboration with the Council of Fashion Designers of America, is preparing for the second edition of a showroom at New York Fashion Week. Scheduled to take place from February 10th to 12th at Powered by Plus Plus Showroom, 161 Water Street, New York, the event will feature 10 Nordic and two American designers. These designers prioritize environmental responsibility, ethical sourcing, and innovative design in their approach to fashion. The identities of these designers have yet to be announced.
The event promises to display a variety of pieces from the selected designers, all of which exemplify contemporary style whilst remaining committed to sustainable production methods.
Further adding to the spotlight on sustainability, the showroom will feature work from Skall Studio, the recipient of the 2024 “Stepping Stone of the Year” Elle Award. Skall Studio is recognized for its ability to weave eco-conscious principles into high-fashion design and aligns closely with the event’s aim to foster environmentally considerate practices within fashion production.
Speaking on the upcoming collaboration, Steven Kolb, chief executive officer of CFDA, stated, “The CIFF-CFDA collaboration unites American and Danish design philosophies with a shared commitment to sustainable innovation. This event showcases the pioneering steps both regions are taking to share a more sustainable fashion industry.”
Sofie Dolva, CEO of CIFF, echoed this vision. “Partnering with CFDA in New York is an opportunity to deepen collaboration and expand the reach of Scandinavian design. It’s about connecting with global markets, sparking creative exchange, and building business relationships that support long-term growth. Through these international partnerships, we help Scandinavian brands and design talents make a lasting impression on one of the most important fashion scenes in the world.”
The CIFF x CFDA Powered by Plus Plus Showroom is expected to welcome industry professionals, press, and buyers from across the globe. Denmark’s CIFF, one of Europe’s longest-running fashion fairs, continually pushes the envelope by showcasing leading-edge designers and sustainable initiatives in the fashion industry.
