Hermès will enter the haute couture calendar for the first time in January 2027, marking a significant expansion of the French house’s womenswear business.
The inaugural Spring/Summer 2027 collection will be designed by Nadège Vanhée, artistic director of women’s ready-to-wear, and presented during Paris Haute Couture Week.
Vanhée has led Hermès womenswear since 2014, presenting her first collection for the house the following year. During her tenure, she has developed a precise and understated design language rooted in material, construction and the equestrian codes that have long shaped the Hermès identity.
The move into haute couture extends the house’s longstanding commitment to craftsmanship into fashion’s most exclusive category. Couture pieces are created largely by hand and made to the measurements of individual clients, requiring specialized ateliers and extensive technical expertise.
Hermès had previously signaled its intention to pursue couture, identifying 2026 or 2027 as a possible timeframe for its debut. The January presentation now gives that plan a formal launch date.
While the house is best known for leather goods including the Birkin and Kelly bags, its operations span numerous métiers, from ready-to-wear and silk to jewelry, watches, homeware and equestrian products. Haute couture provides another platform through which Hermès can showcase its materials, artisanship and creative capabilities.
The collection will also expand Vanhée’s role at a time when her vision for Hermès womenswear continues to evolve. Her recent work has balanced the house’s heritage with increasingly sensual and streamlined silhouettes, while maintaining its emphasis on restraint and longevity.
Hermès will join a closely regulated couture landscape traditionally led by houses including Chanel, Dior and Schiaparelli. Its arrival is likely to become one of the most closely watched moments of the January 2027 season.
