Jonathan Anderson Will Present His Next Cruise Collection in China on May 14, Continuing Dior’s Longstanding Tradition of Destination Shows
Dior is heading to Shanghai for its Cruise 2028 collection, with Jonathan Anderson set to present the collection in the Chinese city on May 14, 2027.
The destination will mark another international chapter for Anderson at Dior as he continues shaping his vision across the house’s women’s, men’s and haute couture collections.
Shanghai also places one of Dior’s major traveling shows in a strategically important luxury market. China has long played a significant role in the house’s international business and cultural programming, while Shanghai has become an increasingly important destination for global fashion events.
For Dior, cruise has traditionally provided an opportunity to move beyond Paris and establish a deeper dialogue with the culture, craft and history of its chosen destination. Recent editions have taken the house from Scotland to Rome and Los Angeles, turning the collections into large-scale international events that extend well beyond the runway itself.
The Shanghai show will follow Anderson’s Cruise 2027 collection, presented at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in May 2026. That collection marked his first cruise outing for Dior and continued the house’s practice of connecting its destination shows with significant cultural institutions and locations.
The move to China also comes as Anderson’s Dior enters a more established phase. After being named Creative Director of the women’s collections in June 2025 — expanding his initial appointment overseeing menswear — Anderson became the first designer since Christian Dior himself to oversee the house’s women’s, men’s and haute couture collections.
Cruise 2028 will therefore offer another opportunity to see how Anderson is developing a unified language across Dior while responding to a destination with its own cultural context.
