Alexander McQueen to Return to London Fashion Week for Spring/Summer 2027

Alexander McQueen will show its Spring/Summer 2027 collection at London Fashion Week on September 20, marking the first time the house has shown on home soil since moving to the Paris Fashion Week schedule in 2001

The move comes as owner Kering works to restructure and reposition the brand following a significant period of losses. McQueen‘s revenue declined approximately 60 percent between 2022 and 2025, prompting a broader overhaul that includes store network reductions and workforce cuts at its Italian production sites. Kering CEO Luca de Meo acknowledged the scale of the challenge earlier this year, citing the brand’s oversized global retail footprint and a heavy reliance on sneaker sales that at one point represented 80 percent of its revenues.

The September show will be creative director Seán McGirr’s first in London at the helm of the house. McGirr, who succeeded Sarah Burton in late 2023, has spent his tenure reengaging the McQueen archive, and the SS27 collection is expected to continue that exploration of sharp tailoring and signature occasionwear, presented across both womenswear and menswear.

The return carries particular significance for the British Fashion Council. CEO Laura Weir described it as the realization of a key ambition for her tenure, noting that McQueen’s presence on the London schedule represents a statement of confidence in British creativity. The house has not confirmed whether the September show marks a permanent return to London or a one-off event, though its arrival comes as the BFC works to draw major global names back to a calendar that has faced criticism in recent years for lacking tentpole brands.

Gianfranco D’Attis, appointed CEO of Alexander McQueen on June 3 and formerly at the helm of Prada, is tasked with sharpening brand clarity and restoring financial performance as Kering’s broader restructuring of its fashion portfolio continues. The London show will be among his first major public moves in the role.
