Naomi Campbell transforms into a punk queen in the latest campaign from Alexander Wang. The legendary model reunites with photographer Jamie Morgan for the brand’s Resort 2024 campaign.
While Morgan was one of the first photographers Campbell worked with in her early career, it’s the first time the model has fronted an Alexander Wang campaign, making for an exciting fusion of fashion past and present.
Although there is strong but straightforward lookbook imagery accompanying the portraits of Campbell, this main focus of the campaign centers around just two images – but that’s all it needs to make a big impact. In a pair of studio portraits captured from behind and from the side, Campbell wears just a pair of AW jeans and one of the designer’s signature bags. But the most striking aspect of the image by far are the spikes – the kind that appear on punk leather jackets – that adorn the model’s torso and arms, transforming her into a powerful and provocative punk entity. This character is supported by her perfectly chaotic shag haircut.
Elegant yet raw, decisive, and powerful, the editorial has the feeling of an instant classic. It’s a striking image that is instantly impactful, yet makes us want to see what the rest of this character and her world have to show us.
