Demna’s First Show in China Arrives May 30th as Part of the Cruise Season
Balenciaga has announced that it will present its Spring 2025 men’s and women’s collections with a runway show in Shanghai on May 30th, 2024.
The event will mark Demna’s first fashion show in China, which is a major market for the brand; it has more stores there than in any other country. The last time a Balenciaga show was held in China was in 2014, under the creative direction of Andrew Wang.
The show lines up with the Cruise 2025 season, when leading luxury houses will be showing their Resort collections via destination runway shows at locations around the world. Balenciaga’s last destination resort show was held in May 2022 at the New York Stock Exchange, while last December Demna headed for Hollywood to unveil Balenciaga’s Pre-Fall 2024 collection.
Other destination resort shows this year include Chanel in Marseille on May 2nd, Gucci in London on May 13th, and Max Mara in Venice on June 11th. Louis Vuitton has scheduled its cruise show for May 23, while Dior’s is set for June 3, though locations have yet to be revealed.
