British Fashion Council Expands Fashion Britain Nationwide

The September programme will connect designers, cultural institutions, and creative communities across seven UK cities

The British Fashion Council (BFC) has unveiled more than 1,000 events across Bristol, Dundee, Edinburgh, Liverpool, London, Manchester, and Newcastle as part of Fashion Britain, a nationwide initiative launching in September to broaden participation in British fashion and strengthen creative economies beyond London.

Developed under the BFC’s Strategy 2030: Access, Creativity and Growth, the programme will bring together designer talks, exhibitions, retail experiences, cultural activations, and live performances at venues including V&A Dundee, The National Gallery, Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, Walker Art Gallery, Manchester Art Gallery, and M Shed. More than 100 BFC designer members will participate, with programming also involving Westfield, The Warehouse Project, Chelsea Arts Festival, and The Music Is Black Festival.

“I am incredibly excited for the launch of Fashion Britain this September. British fashion has always been shaped by people – their local identities, global perspectives, creative disciplines and the communities that shape culture from the ground up. It’s vital that we recognise, celebrate and invest in talent wherever it exists across the UK. Fashion Britain is about decentralising fashion, by creating stronger pathways for creativity, opportunity and growth in every part of the country. That is why we are collaborating with leading cultural institutions alongside over 100 of our designer members to build a stronger, more connected future for British fashion,” said Laura Weir, Chief Executive of the British Fashion Council.

The programme will also feature a BFC x ELLE UK Nationwide Designer Panel series with designers including Aitor Throup, Nicholas Daley, Charles Jeffrey, Saul Nash, Clio Peppiatt, and Talia Byre, alongside initiatives supporting emerging talent and regional fashion communities. Nationwide activations will include Mulberry’s London Fashion Week livestream, eBay’s pre-loved luxury programming, and Marks & Spencer’s debut “see now, buy now” LFW show, reinforcing Fashion Britain’s broader aim of connecting fashion with local culture, commerce, and creative development across the UK.
