Review of Celine Homme Summer 2023 Ad Campaign by Creative Director Hedi Slimane with Models Camp Schill, Dre, Eric and Reilly
Hedi Slimane brings his signature Celine vision of youthful and sensitive masculinity to the skateparks of southern California for the house’s Spring 2023 men’s campaign.
The collection saw Slimane continue to explore American indie-rock subcultures, so it’s fitting that he should bring Celine to the place that inspired it. Pulling double duty as always as creative director and photographer, he captures skaters-turned-models as they hit the bowls and beaches, palm trees and bare skin never out of sight.
Slimane’s utterly consistent, introspective and slothfully sensual campaigns can sometimes feel a bit low-energy, so it’s great to see when he shakes things up by exploring interesting intersections of fashion, music, and activity, as he has in the past with motocross or as in this campaign with skateboarding. It’s a testament to his consistency and singularity of vision that, no matter where he sets his gaze, it always turns out to be unmistakably Celine.
