Spring 2024 Ad Campaign

Review of Chanel Spring 2024 Ad Campaign by Photographers Inez & Vinoodh with models Rianne Van Rompaey and Riley Keough

Chanel celebrates an intertwined legacy of fashion, art history, and architecture with its new Spring 2024 camapign, which was lensed by the brand’s go-to photographer duo of Inez & Vinoodh.

The histories of Chanel and the villa Noailles, in Hyères, South of France, are closely intertwined, cemented across a century through friendship and creative collaboration. Designed in 1923 by Robert Mallet-Stevens for Charles and Marie-Laure de Noailles, the villa is renowned both as an icon of modernist architecture – a South-facing haven of light and verdant vistas – and for its esteemed cultural program, including the International Festival of Fashion, Photography and Accessories, Hyères.

The relationship between this location and Chanel dates back to the earliest days of both. Art collectors Charles and Marie-Laure amassed work by numerous avant-garde artists from all disciplines, and from the 1920s onwards, Marie-Laure was a regular customer of Gabrielle Chanel’s couture creations.

In the duo’s campaign imagery, models Rianne Van Rompaey and Riley Keough bring a sense of the physical embodiment of this spirit of historic elegance and art history, occupying the villa’s interior and gardens with glamor and poise.

The images echo the architecture of the villa, playing with the contrast of the interior and the exterior, with transparency and opaqueness, and with the idea of the artistic and eccentric women that spent time there in the past.”

Nostalgic and indulgent, the colorful campaign is an appropriate ode to a historical vision of art patronage and elegance.
