Key Takeaways

  • Coty has extended its Marc Jacobs Beauty license for 40 years.
  • The agreement follows Marc Jacobs’ sale by LVMH to WHP Global and G-III.
  • The renewal covers a partnership spanning fragrance and the recently relaunched makeup business.

Coty has secured a 40-year extension of its Marc Jacobs Beauty license with the brand’s new owners, WHP Global and G-III Apparel Group. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The agreement provides continuity for a partnership that began in 2003 and produced fragrances including Daisy, Daisy Wild and Perfect. It also supports the expansion of Marc Jacobs Beauty’s makeup offering, which relaunched under Coty in May.

“Marc Jacobs is one of the great creative names in fashion, and we are proud of what we have built together over more than two decades,” said Markus Strobel, Coty’s executive chairman and interim chief executive officer.

The makeup launch marked the return of a business originally introduced with Kendo Brands in 2013 and discontinued in 2021. Coty says the new range is exceeding retail sales targets, with distribution through Sephora in markets including the U.S., U.K., Australia and Canada, alongside online sales.

The extension follows LVMH’s approximately $925 million sale of Marc Jacobs, completed September 1. WHP Global and G-III each hold a 50 percent stake in the brand, while G-III also acquired its operating business.

The unusually long agreement establishes beauty as an enduring component of Marc Jacobs’ development under its new ownership.
