Review of Dolce & Gabbana ‘DGNext’ Fall 2021 Ad Campaign by Photographer Juergen Teller with model Elaine Kwok
Dolce & Gabbana remixes street style and haute haughtiness in a new campaign for their DGNext capsule by iconic photographer Juergen Teller.
The campaign takes as its setting an overgrown skatepark, which both echoes the graffiti motif of the collection and provides some hard-edged contrast to its elegance and opulence. Teller brings his signature frank and naturalistic portrait style to capturing his models. In some images, they pose with reflective panels from Teller’s own photography rig; the metallics nicely continue the cohesive color scheme while creating a tongue-in-cheek sense of deconstruction and self-awareness.
As evinced by the film’s portrait ratio, the campaign is geared for the brand’s Instagram, where it’s sure to get plenty of looks and likes. Simple and stylish, the imagery is a strong statement of the DGNext capsule’s injection of a youthful and rebellious spirit into Dolce &Gabbana’s signature opulent glamor.
