The brand’s first new fragrance since 2021 signals an effort to recruit a younger consumer as the category surges elsewhere in its portfolio.
Estée Lauder will introduce Glimmer Eau de Parfum on August 6, built around notes of macaron rose, raspberry mousse, and vanilla bean, in what represents the brand’s first gourmand fragrance and its first new scent since Beautiful Magnolia debuted in 2021. The launch arrives after a multi-year gap at the namesake label even as fragrance has emerged as a genuine growth engine across the wider Estée Lauder Companies portfolio.
Developed by perfumers Dominique Ropion, Anne Flipo, and Jean-Marc Chaillan of IFF and fronted by Hailee Steinfeld, the fragrance leans into a category that has driven much of the recent momentum at sibling brands including Le Labo, Kilian Paris, Balmain Beauty, and Tom Ford. Global brand president Justin Boxford described the move as an entry into new territory intended to bring in younger Gen Z consumers, an acknowledgment that Estée Lauder’s fragrance identity has skewed toward legacy blockbusters rather than the trend-driven scents currently defining the category.
With Estée Lauder Companies reporting 10 percent growth in fragrance net sales, the pressure on the namesake brand to contribute meaningfully to that trajectory has been building. Glimmer functions as a test of whether the house can translate a category-wide trend into a credible extension of its own identity, and its performance may shape how aggressively Estée Lauder pursues further gourmand or Gen Z-facing launches in the seasons ahead.
