Etro Appoints Marco De Vincenzo as Creative Director

The Designer Takes Over Women’s, Men’s, and Home Collections, With His First Looks Debuting for Spring 2023 from Milan

Etro has announced that Marco De Vincenzo will join the brand as creative director, in charge of women’s, men’s and home collections, effective June 1. His first designs will be unveiled for Spring 2023 from Milan Women’s Fashion Week next month.

The brand’s three previous creative directors – Veronica, Kean, and Jacopo, who oversee women’s, men’s, and home collections respectively, and are the children of the brand’s founder Gerolamo Etro – will continue to collaborate with the house.

A former winner of the Vogue Italia “Who Is on Next?” talent search, De Vincenzo worked with Fendi for years as an accessories consulstant for Karl Lagerfeld and Silvia Venturini Fendi, and still retains his current role as the brand’s head designer of leather goods. He also launched his own namesake brand in 2008, which – thanks to his master of bold color and intensive craft techniques – eventually caught the eye of LVMH, who purchased the brand in a joint venture in 2014.

In April of 2021, De Vincenzo bought back ownership of his brand from LVMH, and revived it with a presentation from Milan Fashion Week, with a collection that focused on innovative upcycling, after a two-year hiatus.

The designer’s appointment at Etro follows a few changes in leadership and ownership of the brand, including its acquisition by private equity L Catterton in July of 2021 and the appointment of new CEO Fabrizio Cardinali in September of that year.
