Fluffy Shoes

Fall 2023 Fashion Trend

Funky or practical, the warm and fuzzy fur trend has your feet covered

Fluff, fur, fabric shreds, hypertexture, all textural, tactile surfaces embraced strappy shoes, classic pumps, boots, and flats. Whether it has anything to do with climate change, the trickle-down effect from the ever-popular Gucci slides, or being accustomed to comfortable at-home footwear, the cozy surfaces appeared in several collections for A/W 23.

Loewe’s textural loafers were a perfect riff on a classic with a slightly flared heel, as was the elastic-sided ‘desert boot’ wrapped in a feel-me brushed upper. Heron Preston, a brand known for streetwear, covered high-heeled pumps in a shaggy pile of kelly green. The darling of New York collections, Khaite, had her models walk in the most comfortable-looking heels that were covered in a ‘coat of the softest cream-colored hair. And although not fur, both Bottega Veneta and Ulla Johnson edged high-heeled pumps with cut suede pieces and fringing.

Burberry’s Daniel Lee did not miss a trick either with the most comfortable looking toe-post sandals; the uppers enveloped in a soft bed of fur as did Rokh, who sent out strappy shoes with toes luxuriating in warmth – no cold toes here. MSGM and Sportmax went full on with MSGM utilizing gorgeous colour to cover ankle boots in fluffy pink and a pair of sling-back ladylike shoes in green, cream, or black. Take your pick. Sportmax went to the extremes with fur-covered high pumps and at Givenchy, wedged-heeled slingbacks showed just a discreet peek of fur. Either way, these fluffy numbers will have you covered from the bedroom to the boardroom without a cold toe in-between.
