The forthcoming audio glasses combine AI-assisted functionality with fashion-driven design

Gentle Monster has unveiled its upcoming intelligent eyewear collaboration with Google and Samsung during Google I/O 2026, marking the luxury eyewear brand’s entry into the rapidly expanding wearable technology space.
Set to launch later this fall, the first collection introduces audio glasses designed to integrate voice-assisted technology into everyday wear while maintaining a fashion-focused approach. Developed in partnership with Samsung and powered by Google Gemini, the glasses combine built-in speakers, microphones, and cameras with AI-driven functionality intended to support real-time interaction without requiring users to disengage from their surroundings.
The eyewear allows users to listen to music, make calls, capture images, receive navigation guidance, and access live translation services through voice commands. Google Gemini also enables more advanced tasks, including contextual information about nearby environments, editing photos in real time, and placing orders through conversational prompts.

The collaboration positions style as central to the product’s adoption, reflecting a broader industry shift away from overtly tech-centric wearable design toward more discreet, fashion-oriented integration. Google and Samsung selected Gentle Monster as a partner specifically to bring a stronger aesthetic identity to the category, leveraging the South Korean brand’s reputation for sculptural silhouettes and experimental eyewear design.
The first frame design was previewed during the Google I/O presentation, with the full collection scheduled to debut later this year. The reveal imagery was photographed by Carlijn Jacobs, reinforcing the project’s positioning within fashion and image culture rather than conventional consumer electronics marketing.
As technology companies continue searching for more socially integrated wearable formats following the uneven reception of earlier smart glasses, the partnership signals a growing convergence between luxury fashion branding, AI ecosystems, and consumer hardware development.
