Fifth Annual New York Event Supports Four Organizations Working To End Violence Against Women And Children
The Kering Foundation raised more than $5 million at its fifth annual Caring for Women dinner in New York, bringing together figures from fashion, entertainment, sports and the arts to support organizations working to end violence against women and children.
Held September 10 at The Pool in Manhattan, the event was co-hosted by Salma Hayek Pinault, François-Henri Pinault, Pamela Anderson, Simone Biles, Dakota Johnson, Benicio Del Toro, Nacho Figueras and Lorna Simpson.
Proceeds from this year’s dinner will benefit four organizations: Activating Change, Fondo Semillas, JBWS and The New York Women’s Foundation. Each works across different areas of prevention, advocacy and support for women and children affected by violence.
“Salma and I founded the Caring for Women Dinner five years ago because we refused to accept the rise in violence against women and children as a new normal. The extraordinary generosity of this community has helped transform that conviction into action, bringing us closer to a future where every woman and child can live free from violence,” said François-Henri Pinault, Chairman of Kering and the Kering Foundation.
Colman Domingo served as Master of Ceremonies for the evening, which included a live auction featuring one-of-a-kind items and experiences from Gucci, Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Pomellato and Lorna Simpson, among others.
For the first time, the fundraising initiative is also extending beyond the dinner through a public online silent auction. Contributions include items from Simone Biles as well as Gucci, Ginori 1735, Brioni and Saint Laurent, with bidding continuing through September 14.
The guest list brought together a broad group of personalities, including Martha Stewart, Julianne Moore, Nina Garcia, Alex Consani, Camila Morrone, Alix Earle, Jordyn Woods, Karlie Kloss, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Lindsey Vonn, Jordan Roth, Bethann Hardison, Mick Fleetwood and Cindy Bruna.
Also attending were Homer Gere, Graham Campbell, Huma Abedi, Quenlin Blackwell and others from across fashion, culture, entertainment and sports.
Guests were served dinner from The Grill on pieces from Ginori 1735’s Catene and Labirinto porcelain collections.
The evening concluded with a performance by Rita Ora, followed by an afterparty with Paris Hilton serving as DJ.
Launched five years ago by François-Henri Pinault and Salma Hayek Pinault, Caring for Women has developed into the Kering Foundation’s principal annual fundraising event in New York, using the luxury group’s network across fashion and entertainment to direct funding toward organizations addressing gender-based violence.
This year’s more than $5 million total continues that effort while the addition of the public silent auction expands participation beyond those attending the dinner.
