Review of Louis Vuitton Ski Collection 2021 Ad Campaign by Photographer Carlijn Jacobs with models Ida Heiner and Kristine Lindseth
Louis Vuitton hits the slopes with a new campaign in celebration of its freshly launched, first-ever ski collection.
Whether bombing a run or enjoying a breath of fresh air at the chalet, the LV ski collection seeks to bring genuine technical excellence without compromising on the brand’s signature comfort or style. Sporting a new snowflake logo and printed alpine snowscapes, the collection is ideal for a winter altitude, with puffer jackets, ski goggles, wool parkas, oversized scarves, boots and more.
The collection is captured in an energetic campaign that keeps things simple and focused to emphasize the prints, monograms, and warm silhouettes of the new collection.
Ski-focused collections and campaigns seem to have become something of a trend recently, with Chanel, Miu Miu, Coach, and Prada Linea Rossa also sharing strong odes to the timelessly thrilling winter activity. We’ve been excited to see that each house has taken the time and thought to put their own signature spin on these winter staples, and when it comes to the design, Louis Vuitton is no exception.
On the other hand, the campaign could have pushed things a bit further to communicate the style and adventure that is inherent in the heritage of skiwear, as well as the aspect of storytelling that lies at Louis Vuitton’s core.
The maison recently released a super stylish campaign for its Twist bag starring young ski champion Eileen Gu; it’s perhaps a bit strange that the brand didn’t take the same thoughtfulness in casting and aesthetic execution when it came to an actual ski campaign. We won’t go so far as to accuse them of simply pushing it out to capitalize on the ski-capsule trend, but some more creativity would have been welcome.
