’Spell On You’ Holiday Fragrance Ad Campaign

Review of Louis Vuitton ‘Spell On You’ Fragrance Holiday 2021 Ad Campaign by Director Jean Baptiste Mondino with Talent Léa Seydoux

Léa Seydoux casts a spell on us in a new fragrance campaign for Louis Vuitton. The bewitching brand ambassador stars in the Fall 2021 “Spell On You” campaign by director Jean Baptiste Mondino.

Sunlit and dreamy, the campaign film is a fantasy of the perfect morning, which of course is all about perfect morning sex. Seydoux wakes up in the light-filled bedroom of a gorgeous modern home, instantly awash in the caresses of her ruggedly handsome lover (whose face we never really see – Léa is the star here). She steps into the courtyard garden to take a break before returning to bed, then finally leaves her man sleeping as she steps out in a sharp, sexy, and powerful LV ensemble. Nina Simone’s tantalizing classic “I Put a Spell on You” is the only appropriate musical choice.

Though it’s never subtle, the film is quite sexy without feeling heavy-handed or overbearingly sexualized.

Sure, most of the focus is not-so-implicitly on looking amazing and having great sex – and sex still sells – but the thoughtful cinematographic attention to details, like sunlight, crisp sheets, bares skin, and fingers in hair, makes the film feel more about a mood of serenity and confidence than simple gratification.

Simply sexy and serene, the campaign is one more strong whiff of Louis Vuitton’s powerful magic.
