Pierpaolo Piccioli Departs Valentino

Pierpaolo Piccioli Reportedly Set to Leave Balenciaga

The house will announce its new creative direction shortly.

Balenciaga has announced that Pierpaolo Piccioli is leaving his role as creative director. The Kering-owned fashion house has not named a successor and plans to announce its new creative direction shortly.

Piccioli joined Balenciaga on July 10, 2025, succeeding Demna following his move to Gucci. The appointment followed Piccioli’s departure from Valentino in 2024, where he had established his reputation for couture, color and construction.

Gianfranco Gianangeli, president and chief executive officer of Balenciaga, thanked Piccioli for his contribution to the house.

“Through his vision, he reaffirmed the couture origins of the House, bringing his considered approach to craftsmanship, construction and creativity,” Gianangeli said.

Kering chief executive Luca de Meo praised Piccioli’s creative talent and outlined the group’s ambition to develop Balenciaga’s avant-garde identity while honoring its heritage.

The announcement did not specify the reason for Piccioli’s departure or his final day in the role.
