NYC-based brand R13, designed by Chris Leba, and Ports 1961 as led by uber-stylist Karl Templer have joined forces to launch a capsule collection Ports 1961 x R13, which is inspired by Jane Birkin’s take on Parisian aesthetics circa the 1970s.
Fusing R13’s iconic American denim culture and the refined elegance of Ports 1961, the new capsule offers reworked classics for a modern wardrobe. Birkin’s must-have pieces – the slim wide leg and relaxed boyfriend jean – are rendered with pale washes based on vintage denim and transformed into fashion silhouettes; add to these a trucker jacket which unbuttons at the sleeves, transforming into a cap, and shrunken jackets and shirts, plus a cropped boy pair with double pockets to round out the capsule collection.
A new hybrid cowboy boot mixes R13 Americana-based silhouette with the signature chain details of Ports 1961, which also serve as embellishments for the interior neckline of shirts and jackets. Additionally, the house’s embroidered PORTS 1961 logo delicately features on back pockets and the front of shirting.
Each piece in the range is a testament to the craftmanship and attention to detail that inspire both brands. Made in Italy, Ports 1961 x R13 will be available for purchase starting August 26th, 2020 at Ports 1961 stores globally and online at www.ports.1961.com.
