Ralph Lauren Celebrates America’s 250th Anniversary with USPS Collaboration

The American Icons project brings together fashion, history, and national symbolism in celebration of a milestone anniversary

The United States Postal Service has partnered with Ralph Lauren to unveil American Icons, a collection of 13 commemorative stamps created in celebration of the nation’s 250th anniversary. The project marks a first for the Postal Service, which invited the designer to curate an entire official stamp issuance, drawing on imagery that reflects the values, traditions, and symbols woven into American life.

Scheduled for release on June 9, the collection brings together photographs selected from Ralph Lauren’s archives and broader visual references that have influenced his work over the past six decades. The stamps explore themes including freedom, independence, equality, opportunity, and the pursuit of happiness through a series of distinctly American subjects.

Among the images featured are the American flag, Jackie Robinson’s baseball glove, a weathered pickup truck, a lighthouse, a barn, a faithful dog, wild horses, a racing sailboat, and a Diné (Navajo) blanket woven by artist Naiomi Glasses. Together, the designs create a portrait of the nation through everyday objects, cultural landmarks, and enduring symbols.

At the center of the commemorative pane is a 13th stamp featuring a knitted American flag designed by Ralph Lauren. Framed by blue denim and bearing the inscription “1776 to 2026,” the image references one of the designer’s most recognizable creations while underscoring the collection’s anniversary theme.

The knitted flag motif will also appear on the 2026 U.S. Flag Mail Use Stamp, one of the Postal Service’s most widely circulated definitive stamps. Based on Ralph Lauren’s iconic Flag Sweater, the design will be released in panes, booklets, and coils for everyday postal use throughout the year.

The launch extends beyond philately through a commemorative capsule collection available beginning June 9 at select Ralph Lauren stores worldwide, RalphLauren.com, and participating USPS locations. The assortment includes a reinterpretation of the American Flag Sweater alongside a classic Polo shirt and baseball cap inspired by the stamp designs.

“For nearly 60 years, Ralph Lauren has influenced American style with a creative vision deeply rooted in the nation’s heritage, landscapes, cultures, and artistry,” the USPS noted in announcing the project. The collaboration also follows Lauren’s receipt of the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2025, recognizing his contributions to American culture.

By bringing together fashion, design, and postal history, the American Icons collection offers a visual celebration of the country’s 250-year journey. Through familiar images and shared cultural references, the project reflects Ralph Lauren’s long-standing interpretation of the American experience while commemorating a milestone anniversary in the nation’s history.
