Ralph Lauren Curates USPS ‘American Icons’ Stamps for America’s 250th Anniversary

Ralph Lauren Becomes the First Designer to Curate an Official USPS Stamp Collection Celebrating American Heritage and Identity

The U.S. Postal Service is marking America’s 250th anniversary with a distinctly Ralph Lauren vision of the nation’s identity. Announced today, American Icons is a commemorative collection of 13 USPS stamps curated by the legendary designer, bringing together imagery that reflects the mythology, symbolism, and everyday objects woven into the American experience.

The project marks the first time the Postal Service has invited an individual to curate an entire official stamp issuance, underscoring Ralph Lauren’s enduring influence on American culture and visual identity. For nearly six decades, Lauren has built a world around ideals of heritage, aspiration, craftsmanship, and timeless Americana — themes that now translate into one of the country’s most recognizable public mediums.

The stamp collection draws from Ralph Lauren’s archive alongside imagery that has long inspired the designer. The selected visuals span symbols of freedom, resilience, community, and optimism, including the American flag, a weathered pickup truck, a baseball glove associated with Jackie Robinson, wild horses, a lighthouse, a barn, a faithful dog, and a hamburger cookout scene. Other images highlight American artistry and ingenuity, including the Empire State Building and a Diné (Navajo) blanket woven by Naiomi Glasses.

At the center of the pane is a 13th stamp featuring a knitted American flag inspired by Ralph Lauren’s iconic Flag Sweater, accompanied by the dates “1776 to 2026.” The motif will also appear separately as the official 2026 U.S. Flag Mail Use Stamp, translating one of Lauren’s most recognizable designs into a definitive postal format intended for widespread everyday circulation.

The initiative extends beyond philately into branded retail. To coincide with the June 9 dedication ceremony at New York’s James A. Farley Post Office Building, Ralph Lauren will launch an American Icons commemorative capsule collection globally through select stores and RalphLauren.com. The capsule reimagines the knitted flag imagery across a Flag Sweater, Polo shirt, and ball cap, linking the USPS collaboration directly to the brand’s commercial universe.

The partnership arrives as Ralph Lauren continues to deepen its role as a custodian of American visual culture. A recent recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, Lauren has long aligned his brand narrative with national heritage, from preserving the original Star-Spangled Banner to consistently framing American style through symbols of craftsmanship, sport, and frontier romanticism.

“The Postal Service and the United States share a 250-year legacy rooted in binding the nation,” said Sheila Holman, USPS vice president of marketing. “We are honored to have legendary American designer Ralph Lauren curate the American Icons stamps. His remarkable visual archive beautifully captures the aspirational spirit and shared values that have united Americans since before our nation’s founding.”

The American Icons stamps will be issued as Forever stamps in panes of 13 beginning June 9.
