The Latest Installation of “Rei Kawakubo Curates” Features One of a Kind Charles Jeffrey Pieces
Charles Jeffrey Loverboy was personally invited by Rei Kawakubo to create a range for the renewal opening of Trading Museum CdG at the end of October 2023 and the launch of Dover Street Market Paris in April 2024. These will be held in a special area of the store, called “Rei Kawakubo Curates” featuring hand picked designers and items from Rei. The concept from Rei Kawakubo was to look back at Loverboy archive of “beautiful suits and tailored jackets” and reimagine with a new take.
The relationship between Charles Jeffrey Loverboy and Dover Street Market / CdG goes back to Fall 2016, when they were some of the first stockists to support the brand, a relationship that continues globally to this day.
The selected pieces are made one-of-a-kind in a limited run.
The Tartan holes suit is made using an Italian cotton in a colourway called “X-Ray Tartan.” The name comes from the overexposed colours mutating the Scottish Tartan Registered classic of Loverboy Tartan. This time the fabric is layered with Applique dot patches and frayed edges.
The range also includes a line of jewelry that features classic “Loverboy creatures” reimagined on dog tag necklaces, and intricate wire broaches on miniature Scottish kilt pins. Each of the pins were one off’s and all embodied different persona’s of Charles’ vision for the capsule.
