Soft Power Moves

Spring 2024 Fashion Trend

Releasing it from its stuffy formality, this season the suit came in softer iterations and was updated as separates to face into the next phase of hybrid working, where the idea of the new ‘Soft Power’ woman is emerging, even if the traditional office is not 100% back as we once knew it.

Suits which are made for any occasion came in all shapes and sizes. Louise Trotter at Carven showed a true understanding of how women want to dress today, combining a perfectly cut double-breasted blazer with a high-neck jersey top and charcoal leggings, with a nod to a sense of fun in the form of fluffy footwear. Fforme featured a tailored jumpsuit as an all-in-one workwear alternative, Michael Kors brought back the noughties styling trick of the blazer and hoodie, while Victoria Beckham and LVMH Prize semi-finalist Vautrait took a deconstructed approach with draping and open back details.
