Review of Zimmermann Resort 2027 Ad Campaign by Photographer Julia Noni with model Aivita Muze
Zimmermann charts a course between maritime adventure and after-hours extravagance for its Cruise 2027 campaign, translating the spirited dualities of its collection, The Clash, into a visual narrative of contrasting moods. Photographed by Julia Noni and starring Aivita Muze, the campaign draws inspiration from Australia II’s historic victory at the 1983 America’s Cup, a triumph of audacity over convention that informs creative director Nicky Zimmermann’s exploration of rebellion, elegance, and freedom. Moving between the gilded interiors of Paris and the sun-drenched coastline of Antibes, the imagery captures two seemingly opposing worlds, united by an irrepressible sense of movement and individuality.
Noni’s photography establishes a compelling visual dialogue between these environments, embracing the tension between architectural grandeur and the openness of the Mediterranean landscape. Within ornate Parisian interiors, Muze occupies elaborate staircases, carved marble fireplaces, and richly paneled rooms with a decidedly unconventional attitude. The compositions are theatrical yet refreshingly unpolished, their tilted perspectives, dramatic flash photography, and spontaneous gestures introducing an almost rebellious energy to otherwise formal surroundings. A sweeping black lace gown cascades over a stone balustrade, while a sharply tailored jacket and voluminous skirt transform an ornate fireplace into an impromptu stage. The juxtaposition of historic opulence and contemporary irreverence lends these images a mischievous sophistication, suggesting a guest who has little interest in observing the rules of the house.

The styling by Romy Frydman reinforces this playful disregard for convention, balancing Zimmermann’s signature romanticism with an unexpected sense of attitude. Delicate lace, sheer blouses, and flowing silhouettes encounter structured tailoring, tactile shearling, and sharply contrasting colors. A lavender blouse paired with vivid red trousers brings a particularly striking energy to the interior portraits, while a blush-toned ensemble combines delicate transparency with the substantial texture of a plush jacket. These contrasts echo the collection’s broader exploration of utility and opulence, translating the practical spirit of competitive sailing into a wardrobe equally suited to adventure and celebration. Accessories, from oversized metallic earrings to sculptural handbags, punctuate the looks with an appealing sense of individuality.
The campaign’s coastal imagery introduces an altogether different rhythm. Bathed in the honeyed glow of sunset, Muze moves along stone terraces overlooking the Mediterranean, her garments catching the breeze in a series of softly cinematic compositions. Here, Noni exchanges the confrontational immediacy of flash photography for a warmer, more atmospheric approach, allowing the natural light and movement of the fabrics to shape the narrative. Floral lace dresses, flowing silk, and airy printed layers become extensions of the surrounding landscape, their delicate textures echoing the movement of wind across water. One particularly evocative image captures a sheer, sail-like garment billowing dramatically beside a seaside balustrade, offering a subtle visual connection to the collection’s nautical inspiration without resorting to literal maritime imagery.

Muze proves an effective presence across both settings, bringing a quiet confidence that allows the campaign’s shifting personalities to coexist. Her tousled blonde hair, styled by Damien Boissinot, and understated makeup by Jodie Boland establish a sense of effortless beauty that remains consistent even as the visual atmosphere changes. There is a particularly engaging contrast between her almost defiant composure in the Parisian interiors and the relaxed freedom of the coastal portraits. Rather than presenting two entirely separate stories, the campaign suggests different expressions of the same woman: equally at ease disrupting a formal gathering or disappearing into the Mediterranean sunset. This continuity gives the imagery an emotional coherence that complements the collection’s central theme of duality.
Ultimately, Zimmermann’s Cruise 2027 campaign succeeds by finding a visual language for the collection’s spirit of contradiction. The interplay of dramatic interiors and expansive landscapes, structured silhouettes and fluid fabrics, rebellious glamour and romantic ease creates a narrative that feels both distinctly Zimmermann and refreshingly dynamic. While the sailing inspiration remains largely beneath the surface, its themes of daring, movement, and independence resonate throughout the imagery. In Noni’s hands, The Clash becomes less a confrontation between opposing worlds than a celebration of the freedom to move between them, proving that sometimes the most compelling course is the one that refuses to follow convention.
