The BFC Has Announced The Nominees For The 2021 Fashion Awards Presented In Partner With TikTok

The Fashion Awards 2021 presented by TikTok will take place on Monday 29th November at the iconic Royal Albert Hall, London and will evolve to a global entertainment platform to celebrate fashion’s role at the intersection of culture. To deliver this new proposition, the event’s format will change to include awards, performances and unique cultural highlights from the past year. The 2021 accolades include fifteen Leaders of Change; the designers, brands, creatives, and individuals who created positive change within the fashion industry this past year under three categories: Environment, People and Creativity. These will be revealed live during the show.

Today the British Fashion Council (BFC) is delighted to announce the nominees for the eagerly-anticipated Designer of the Year Award and the BFC Foundation Award – the winners of which will also be revealed on the night. Over 1000 key members of the international fashion industry were called upon to vote for this year’s global accolades, defining the final nominees, winners and Leaders of Change. The Fashion Awards 2021 presented by TikTok Nominees are (all listed in alphabetical order)

Designer of the Year

Recognizes a British or international designer whose innovative collections have made a notable impact on the industry, defining the shape of global fashion.

BFC Foundation Award

Recognizes an emerging designer talent, who over the last 12 months has had a major creative impact on global fashion, from those receiving financial and mentoring support from the BFC Foundation in this year. This includes the NEWGEN in partnership with TikTok recipients, the BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund winner and shortlist the BFC/GQ Designer Menswear Fund winner and shortlist, and the BFC Fashion Trust recipients

Other awards include the Outstanding Achievement Award, which will go to Mr. Tommy Hilfiger for his contribution to the global fashion industry and his continued commitment to creating an inclusive brand that champions people from all backgrounds and experiences, and the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator. Additionally, the event will recognize 50 of the most innovative and inspiring young creative talent from around the world as part of NEW WAVE: Creatives.

The Fashion Awards presented by TikTok raises funds for the BFC Foundation (Registered Charity Number: 1185152) which supports the future growth and success of the British fashion industry by focusing on Talent, Education, Grant-Giving and Business Mentoring and aims to improve equality and opportunity so that the fashion industry remains diverse and open to all, helping talented designers at all stages of their career from school level through to becoming a global fashion brand. In 2020/21, the BFC raised £1.7 million for the BFC Foundation, and its talent support initiatives and this year the charity supported 33 designers.
