From the minimalist to the maximalist, chokers and necklaces snaked, curled, or gently licked models’ necks
It is the season for less is more or more is more – either way, jewellery performed an essential function for S/S 23 in statement-making accoutrements to silhouettes. The minimal approach at Giada demonstrated the brand’s intricate craftsmanship in a delicate pearl embellished choker. Jil Sander and Fendi kept it simple with a long pendant – Fendi with a tiny replica of the Fendi bag. The use of pearls and mother of pearl showed up elsewhere, including Acne, Coperni, Ulla Johnson and Alcaterra, using stones reflecting a pearlescent shimmer.
Maria Grazia Chiuri looked to Catherine de Medici for inspiration resulting in the display of finely crafted chokers and necklaces, reflecting the opulence and timeless elegance of Baroque jewellery. Simone Rocha continued the finery by weaving strands of pearls through metal chains and Chanel, some of the most beautiful pearl chokers intermingled with chains
At Undercover, ‘nature’s offerings’ came in sparkling crystals attached to chunky chains, while the chunky chain theme continued at Collina Strada. Versace piled on gold knots, body chains, and necklaces. At the same time, at Vuitton, the maximalist theme continued in an extravagant decoration of mixed metals, pearls, and coloured semi-precious stones to match the statement elongated drop earrings.
