Photographer Malick Bodian Captured the Looks From the 2022/23 Collection Along the Banks of the Seine
Ahead of the presentation in Dakar, Chanel shared an initial preview of the looks from its 2022/23 Métier d’Art collection. Photographer Malick Bodian captured models Alaatyo Jazyper and Loli Bahia along the banks of the river Seine in Paris. Bodian also worked with stylist, Off-White creative director, and Dazed editor Ib Kamara for the creation of the images.
I always knew I wanted to do this kind of photos that reflect the relationship I have with the models. I really like it when people see this in my pictures. I like it how the models are looking into my eyes, at the camera. I think it gives something very real, full of emotions, humanizing the photos. I like to show fashion in the most real way and I think that’s very rare.”

First held in 2002 during the iconic creative director tenure of Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel’s annual Metier d’Art show comprises a special collection meant to exhibit the tradition of exquisite craftsmanship that the artisans with which the house works carry on. The 2021 show was held in a brand-new headquarters for Chanel that was designed to house its team of skilled craftspeople in a beautiful, expansive space.
This year’s Metier d’Art show was held today, December 8, in the heart of the former Palais de Justice in Dakar, Senegal.
